How Falling for the Villain Came to Be
The idea for Falling for the Villain came to me while I was watching superhero cartoons with my four-year-old daughter. I found myself wishing the plot would go a different direction. As I often do, I began daydreaming about what I would have improved in the story. I've always wanted better romance from the superhero genre, so I included lots of love in my imaginary tale. Eventually, the story got too big for my brain to contain it. I had to write it down.
While I was finishing my book, I wrote a 500-word flash fiction about how the idea came about. I submitted the flash fiction to the Hilroy #startwriting contest on Wattpad.com, but I never expected anything to come of it. In fact, I forgot all about entering. I was shocked and ecstatic when my entry was selected as the grand prize winner! Winning that contest gave me the final boost of confidence I needed to finish editing the book and publish.
